Herman Phillips is a dedicated CrossFit coach with a passion for empowering athletes to achieve their goals, one rep at a time. With a background in the U.S. Navy and years of experience in the CrossFit community, Herman is a core member of the Trident Athletics coaching team, committed to making a meaningful and positive impact on others.
Herman’s CrossFit journey began over a decade ago, following his retirement from more than 24 active duty years in the U.S. Navy. Walking into Trident Athletics for his very first workout—The Baseline—Herman quickly realized how deconditioned he had become and signed up on the spot. This moment marked a significant turning point in his life, leading him to become a core member of the Trident coaching crew and a dedicated advocate for fitness and health.
Herman is deeply motivated by the belief that success happens when one contributes to a greater cause. His mission is to make a meaningful and positive impact on others, a philosophy that drives his coaching style. He is passionate about empowering athletes to improve with each rep, believing that consistent effort leads to lasting results. Herman’s favorite workout, "Fight Gone Bad," embodies his approach to fitness—intense, challenging, and ultimately rewarding. His dedication to his athletes’ progress is matched by his commitment to the broader CrossFit community, where he has served on the CrossFit Games and Rogue Invitational event leadership teams.
